Be part of the team that contributes to SFA’s mission to ensure & secure a supply of safe food. You’ll play an essential role in applying risk analysis in animal health & food hygiene, implementing risk-based recommendations for regulatory systems
Responsibilities
– Carry out investigations at local food businesses for animal disease outbreaks & assist investigations on foodborne outbreaks
– Conduct risk analysis, develop policies & regulatory reqs, & support legislative reviews for food animal & aquaculture production, eg vaccination, biosecurity, assessing countries’ animal health & vet systems, & safety of food derived from animals
– Drive initiatives to improve local food & feed industry practices, thru engagement, training & regulations eg encourage good farming practices to prevent diseases, control food & feed safety hazards
– Manage SFA’s inspection & sampling progs in farms/slaughterhouses
– Provide technical expertise on vet matters eg contingency plans, approval of local/overseas farm/slaughterhouse, import of food derived from animals
– Provide health certification to international trading partners attesting that exported products meet both animal health & food safety standards

This involves formulation of SG’s position, preparation of meeting materials, providing scientific advice & training
Required
– Degree in vet science acceptable for obtaining a vet licence in SG
– Strong ownership & technical skills to resolve challenges
– Team player, good interpersonal & comms skills
– Meticulous, able to work independently
– Highly self-motivated, able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines
