The 2019 World Veterinary Day falls on 27 April 2019. This year’s theme is the Value of Vaccination.
Vaccination is an essential tool for preventive veterinary medicine, promotion of animal health and welfare, and reducing the risk of human exposure to many zoonotic pathogens. Historically, immunization practices and vaccination protocols have contributed to significantly reduce the prevalence of many life-threatening diseases. Effective use of vaccines is also likely to reduce the need for antimicrobials, which in turn can help reduce the risk of emergent antimicrobial resistance.
As part of SVA’s efforts to support this initiative, SVA has developed an infographic on vaccination which is posted below. Please feel free to circulate and use the infographics to communicate the importance of vaccination to pet owners. We also encourage you to post the infographics on your website and social media. Happy World Veterinary Day!
