AGRI-FOOD AND VETERINARY AUTHORITY OF SINGAPORE (AVA)
As a Veterinarian in the Quarantine and Inspection Department, you will assist to safeguard the health of animals in Singapore by ensuring that imported animals are healthy and free from infectious disease.
Job scope:
To enforce statutory requirements, administer and review policies and programmes, handle public enquiries and cases on veterinary matters relating to the import/ export/ transshipment of animals and birds, animal products, animal feed, veterinary biologics, and veterinary pharmaceuticals, as well as animal quarantine and border control.
To issue veterinary health certificates, import/ export/ transshipment permits, free sale certificates and freedom from disease certificates
To carry out inspections, and liaise with authorities and stakeholders, to facilitate agri-trade and international movement of animals
To ensure the health and welfare of animals in quarantine stations, and assist traders and the public on quarantine matters
To assist with accreditation of sources of laboratory animals and wildlife
To assess and designate home quarantine for companion animals, or quarantine stations for horses, wildlife and laboratory animals
To be involved in disease investigation and surveillance, enforcement and investigation work, and assessment of non-compliance cases.
To be involved in local and overseas farm inspections and inspections of research institutes
To assist with the accreditation of overseas pet food manufacturing establishments
