Canine OA Management: Maximizing Benefits, Minimizing Risks

Monday, October 17, 2011 - Sunday, October 30, 2011: Open Access During This Period
When: Monday, October 17, 2011 to Sunday, October 30, 2011
12:00AM to 12:00AM
Venue: Web Conference

This webcast outlines the pathology and changes associated with osteoarthritis (OA) in the dog, showing how the disease is multidimensional, with pain acting as a central driver of widespread changes. The concept of a multimodal approach will be outlined, as well as specifics on how to maximize the benefit from NSAID use while minimizing the risks. Different ways to prescribe NSAIDs will be discussed, including long term vs. short term, and pulse vs. dose reduction. To minimize risks, important aspects of patient selection and patient management will also be discussed. To present the information in a practical format, a combination of case studies, clinical experience, and clinical research will be used.
After participating in this webcast, participants will be better able to:
  • Understand the full multidimensional impact of OA on the canine patient
  • Maximize the therapeutic benefit of NSAID use
  • Realize the main risk factors for NSAID-associated toxicity and how to avoid them

Registered participants will be able to submit questions for the speaker. One hour of CE credit is available for this web conference.
